Vine just let's you know when the status of a case changes. There is quite a bit of other things that go on before a status change. Including what your atty is actually doing on the case. I wrote the software that both VINE and Judici use behind the scenes for certain IL counties, and judici if far better if you want to track activity on a case. Find out that they moved, chnaged their phone number, switch attys, got arrested, or filed a motion. Vine is the way to go if you just want an email that says a defendant was found guilty and was sentenced or has an upcomming hearing.

Be happy. You are very intelligent to "listen".
A wonderful world of "Obedince" opens its doors to one who desires to "listen".

The direct link that I previously posted will not work - try this: vinelink.com > click on Illinois > chose Illinois Statewide (unless you want Cook) > Chose Search & Register and right below that tab chose VINE Courts. You should be able to register your e-mail or phone to receive updated case information.

Second, you need to work on your legal lesson. A mere hunch is not enough to create a reasonable suspicion. Also, the police can’t just automatically frisk a person in a stop – there must also be a reasonable suspicion that the person is armed and dangerous.

Sure. But it's hardly challenging for a competent cop to find articulable suspicion, in many, many cases (that hunch can be the product of something real, after all) and very, very easy for an unethical one to invent it. (I'm not saying that the latter is okay, as I don't think it is; I am saying that it's easy to get away with. "Furtive motions", anyone?)

What Lil Spicy has seen may be the latter, or it may be somebody who knows what to look for seeing things that Lil Spicy missed. Or, if I had to bet, it's been some of both of those.

I can't tell you the number of times I've been in public and seen cops walking up to random people and patting them down for no reason at all....asking them all sorts of incriminating questions in the process. You can't live in this city and NOT see that on a fairly regular basis.

Balancing Act:

I am not going to respond in great depth to your comment. This is largely because I don’t want to get into a long discussion with an anonymous voice. But, I will make two quick responses.

First, you read things into my post that weren’t there. For example, one thing you gathered from my post was that I see police officers as enemies. I don’t view police officers as enemies (as a matter of fact, I know and like many officers in my neck of the woods), but I do expect them not to violate the constitutional rights of citizens.

Second, you need to work on your legal lesson. A mere hunch is not enough to create a reasonable suspicion. Also, the police can’t just automatically frisk a person in a stop – there must also be a reasonable suspicion that the person is armed and dangerous.
